The Colcom Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that creates and promotes health, educational, and life opportunities for all in the Western Pennsylvania region. We support and service organizations that promote the health, safety, and well-being of underserved children, communities, and families. The Colcoms Foundation also offers opportunities for individuals or families interested in healthcare and education not only in Western Pennsylvania but nationally through the Colcom Scholars program. - Family Planning
Population Media Center, a non-profit organization under Colcom Foundation, distributes free family planning information to individuals in the community and hosts several seminars every year designed to teach about family planning options such as birth control pills, IUDs, and condoms. PMC also provides reproductive health care for low-income families in the community. To provide the best service, they work with the Western Pennsylvania Health Department and Pennsylvania Partnership for Families to provide several reproductive health services.
- Health Education
In addition to providing free family planning services, the Colcom Foundation created a program called “Unite with Life,” designed to promote life-long healthy habits in children and adults by promoting physical activity and healthy nutrition. Programs focus on obesity prevention for children in Elementary School, and monetary rewards are given to children who lose or maintain their current weight. Colcom Foundation also contributes to the community by hosting the Junior Football Camps. These football camps aim to provide families with an opportunity to interact with coaches and their children. Where children may not otherwise have that chance, the Colcom Foundation provides scholarships for youth interested in attending college.
