Ben Roethlisberger Brings His Sense of Community to Both Football and His Family Foundation

Ben Roethlisberger is best known as the decorated NFL Steelers quarterback who ended his career in 2022. He played for a whopping 18 seasons with the Steelers and became a staple both on and off the field. His love of the game propelled him forward into the flashy world of the NFL after growing up in rural Ohio.

His dad instilled a sense of community, friendship, and connection in him from a young age. He wanted more than anything to make his dad proud and that included giving back to the community as much as it did winning a Superbowl (or two). To that end, Ben Roethlisberger started the Roethlisberger Family Foundation in 2007.

The Roethlisberger Family Foundation is focused on another one of Ben’s loves: dogs. The RFF serves police departments and fire departments throughout Pittsburgh. The foundation provides grants for canine units, which make it possible for departments without the necessary funding to have their own K-9 unit. Roethlisberger’s foundation has given nationwide organizations more than $1.2 million. The foundation covers the purchase of the dogs, training, handlers, safety equipment for both dogs and their handlers, food, vet services, housing, and more.

Although Roethlisberger has left the field, Ben Roethlisberger continues to talk football with his Footballing podcast. His vast knowledge of both the Steelers and the sport of football gives him a rare ability to provide detailed insight into the game. He discusses everything from player’s performances to game calls and plays used. The podcast is an entertaining way to stay connected to one of the world’s best quarterbacks throughout his retirement years.

Ben Roethlisberger may be finished with his career as a quarterback, but his love for the sport and interest in giving back to communities across the country are still in motion. Like this page on Facebook, for related information.
