Ben Roethlisberger Hangs Up His Cleats and Turns to Philanthropy

NFL great Ben Roethlisberger got his start in the small town of Lima, Ohio, which is in the state’s northwestern
quadrant. The coach at Findlay High School had a significant impact on his
life. He played various sports here, but his passion for football grew from
those early days as he was destined to be something great.

Thoughhe played baseball and basketball, football was where he excelled. He set state
records by throwing 54 touchdowns in his senior year, over 4,000 yards. This
incredible record allowed him to be named the Toledo Blade Player of the Year.

His senior year ended with a bang, playing the notorious Ohio-Pennsylvania Big 33
as a final goodbye. While it was goodbye to high school, he was just starting
his career, as it wouldn’t be long before he passed every school record set
within a mere 38 games. Every big team had their eye on Ben Roethlisberger, and
with good reason: he was destined to go places.

The Pittsburgh Steelers chose him in
the 2004 NFL Draft, placing him on their Rookie Team. Of the first 100 games
played, he won 74 of them. The entirety of his career was spent with Pittsburg,
and he played over 216 games in total. As a two-time Super Bowl Champion, he
made over 363 touchdowns in his extensive career, which is impressive.

Ben Roethlisberger accomplished many remarkable things in his career, and being the youngest
quarterback to ever go to the Super Bowl is just one of them. He signed a
one-year extension with the Steelers in 2021, which showed that Ben
Rothlisberger still had some game left in him. Sadly, in 2022, he hung up his
cleats for the last time.

Though his football days are gone, Rothlisberger loves Pittsburg and the Steelers, and
he’s known for philanthropist work alongside his wife throughout the area. He
even collaborated with Micah Tyler to raise money through songs in the Light of
Life Rescue Mission. Big things are still to come from a man who was a legend
on the field, as he’s so much more than a quarterback. Read this article for more
information.
