Chances are you know who Randy Douthit is, but you may not know his story about how he became a bit part of television. The first time he saw a television show at this grandparent’s house he knew that he wanted to be the individual putting a TV show together. His dream of being a producer started with his own excitement of selling tickets for just a dime to a show he put on in his parent’s barn.
Although most producers have different stories, Randy Douthit’s is no less exciting in that he knew what he wanted to do, and he figured out a way to accomplish it. He was drawn to putting on a TV show and the promise it held, and that was all he could think about from the time he was a young boy.
Once Randy reached his early 20’s, he decided it was time to attempt getting involved in his chosen career. He decided to attempt to get on board with Portland’s KGW. He began to focus on directing a children’s program called “How Come”. Long after, he began to delve into talk shows. It was during this time that he was able to grow the viewership of “Seattle Today” significantly.
Growing the viewership for this show put him on the map. It had people in the television industry talking about who Randy Douthit was and what he was up to. Around this time he joined CNN and it was then that he became the executive producer of a show called “Crossfire”.
Although his love for television developed early, Randy was determined to climb the ranks and do whatever was necessary to make his break into television for his future career.
