Horatio Alger Association Member Spotlight: Kelcy Warren

Kelcy Warren is the founder and CEO of Energy Transfer Partners, one of the largest energy companies in the United States. Kelcy Warren has had a remarkable career, starting as a roughneck in the oil fields and eventually becoming one of the most successful businessmen in America. In this Horatio Alger Association Member Spotlight, we will take a closer look at Warren’s life and incredible accomplishments.

Kelcy Warren was born and raised in Oklahoma, working in the oil fields as a roughneck while completing his high school diploma. He attended college at East Central University, earning a finance and accounting degree. After graduation, Warren joined Midland Financial Company, eventually becoming its President and CEO. Later, he would move on to the Enron Corporation and eventually found Energy Transfer Partners, where he currently serves as CEO.

He founded Energy Transfer Partners in 1995 and has since grown it into one of the largest energy companies in America. Warren has also been involved in many philanthropic efforts, donating millions to charities such as The Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club of America.

In 2008, Warren was recognized by Horatio Alger Association for his remarkable success story and extraordinary achievements in business. He was awarded the Horatio Alger Award, presented annually to individuals who have achieved great success despite facing difficult odds.

Throughout his career, Kelcy Warren has been dedicated to giving back to his hometown and the communities that have supported him along the way. He is an active supporter of many charitable organizations, particularly those related to education and healthcare. His generous donations have provided countless opportunities for needy students and improved healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
