The issue of cyberbullying and security offered by the applications to their users have been a major concern across the world. For the French startup, security has been looked upon.
Recently, Yubo carried out a verification exercise to know legit users of the application. The company only registers individuals under 50 years and those who are above 13 years. The online company’s responsibility is to protect its users from child abuse and cyberbullying. When they began the process, Sacha Lazimi, the Co-founder and the Chief of the organization, mentioned that they would start by verifying those users who are 13 and above before providing the other ages. The company used a systematic od to verify its users, android users were the last people to be confirmed. The organization is working with Yoti, a technology firm, to verify its users. According to the management, Yoti uses its camera and makes video calls to see the face of the subscriber to estimate their ages. The French chatting company has rules that do not allow them to ask for its user’s identification cards because most are under 18 years old. However, suppose the user is not satisfied with Yoti’s age verification. In that case, they will be required to show their identification documents; if they fail, the company will delete the account.
Yubo mentioned that it is will deregister the accounts that do not meet the company’s requirements, and new users will have to follow the new identification rules. Yoti is said to be 98.95 accurate in its verification.
